The Missouri Department of Natural Resources is again asking residents to turn in mercury, or any items containing mercury. KSMU’s Ryan Welch reports.


Each year across the country, deaths are reported because of lightning. As many as 11 people have already died this year in the United States, as a result of lightning. This week is Missouri Summer Safety and Lightning Awareness week, and the goal is keeping Missourians safe during the unpredictable weather in the summer months. KSMU’s Theresa Bettmann spoke with the National Weather service and has this report.

At age 10, Madison Albert is a regular volunteer with a community organization that gives baby supplies to low income families, ensuring they have basic care items when they bring their infant home from the hospital. KSMU's Missy Shelton has this profile.

One soldier-turned-stand-up-comedian will be visiting Hammons Field Friday night to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Springfield Cardinals game. KSMU’s Ryan Welch has the story.
