2009 Eureka Springs Blues Weekend

Tickets are now on sale for the 2009 Eureka Springs Blues Weekend at www.eurekaspringsblues.org. This year's Blues Weekend will be May 28-31 at the Basin Park Hotel in Eureka Springs, and features a "who's who of the blues" including Guitar Shorty, Hubert Sumlin, and Joe Louis Walker headlining evening shows at The Auditorium. Delta blues acoustic guitar legend David "Honeyboy" Edwards will headline a special "Acoustic Afternoon at The Auditorium" on Saturday May 30. Shows will also be held throughout the weekend in the 1905 Basin Park Hotel, Basin Spring Park, and at various venues around Eureka Springs. This year's Blues Weekend will be a fundraiser for The Blues Foundation's Handy Artist Relief Trust and Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge near Eureka Springs. Other scheduled performers include Moreland and Arbuckle, Candye Kane, Deanna Bogart, John Nemeth, and Springfield's own King Clarentz, Also, International Blues Challenge winner JP Soars & the Red Hots, and Ozarks Blues Society Blues Challenge winners Oreo Blue and the duo of Kory Montgomery & Isayah Warford will be opening acts. Acclaimed blues photographer David Horwitz will exhibit his photography throughout Blues Weekend and will conduct a performance photography workshop on Saturday morning May 30. On Sunday May 31st there will be a Blues Gospel Brunch in Basin Park featuring Korey Mattox and LZ Love & Lightning Red, and music will continue in area clubs.
