The use of the bow and arrow is centuries old and that history, along with recognition of the worlds greatest modern day archers
will soon be on display in Springfield. Mike Smith has the story:
The public will soon have the opportunity to learn more the evolution of archery when the Archery Hall of Fame moves from Angola Indiana to the Wonders of Wildlife National Fish and Wildlife Museum and Zooquarium in Springfield Missouri.
Representing the Archery Hall of Fame, renowned Archer M.R. James presented to WOW, a check for $200,000 as a sign of good faith in moving forward with the move to the Ozarks.
AT WOW, the facility will be called the Earl and Ann Hoyt Archery Hall of Fame Exhibit, and will consist of 2 rooms. One room will serve as a recognition room for the inductees, the other will house items that will showcase the history of archery, including a set of arrows, bows, and a quiver made by the Apache leader Geronimo.
The Archery Hall of Fame will be built on the 2nd floor mezzanine of WOW and will connect the wildlife museum with a soon to be built IMAX theater, and Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.
