Area hospitals called on the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks to supply them with blood to help the victims of the tornado that hit Southwest Missouri Saturday. KSMU's Michele Skalicky has more.
The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks received several requests for blood to help those who were injured in Saturday's tornado. Blood was requested by Freeman Health System and St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, McCune-Brooks Hospital in Carthage and St. John's Hospital in Berryville, AR. Chris Pilgrim is spokesman for the CBCO.
Despite the blood that was used by Southwest MO hospitals over the weekend, Pilgrim says the blood supply is in good shape.
He says this illustrates the need for people to give blood on a regular basis.
