Every May for the past 29 years, the Springfield Regional Arts Council has presented Artsfest, a celebration of springtime, food, fun, and the performing and visual arts along the Walnut Street historic district between National and Hammons Parkway. This year's Artsfest on Walnut Street takes place Saturday and Sunday May 2nd and 3rd, Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday 10 to 5. Walnut Street will be lined with more than 120 artist booths with artwork, jewelry and more for sale; also food vendors, activity stations for kids, and performances. Five performance stages will have music, dance, theatrical presentations and more throughout the day. Among those scheduled to participate are Springfield Ballet, Skinny Improv; Eddie Gumucio; Credo Dance Academy; jazz ensembles from Glendale, Kickapoo and other schools; Caduceus; Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin; Grupo Latino Americano; and more.
