BBB: If You Get a Letter Saying You've Won Airline Travel, It's Probably a Hoax

The Better Business Bureau of southwest Missouri says some local customers have received letters saying they’ve won free travel from American Airlines…and that a company called “US Airlines” is fitting the bill. KSMU's Jennifer Davidson reports.

The Council of Better Business Bureaus has warned consumers not to be fooled by this offer: “US Airlines” isn’t even a company, although it sounds similar to the legitimate “US Airways.”

Also, the BBB says this letter is not from the real American Airlines, and if you got a letter like that, you haven’t actually won anything.

The Better Business Bureau is urging consumers not to take action on these letters, since the creators of the fraudulent promotion will likely try to get money through fake fees and taxes.
