Blunt Tries to Win Over Female Voters With New Coalition

Republican Congressman Roy Blunt is courting the female portion of the electorate in his bid for the U.S. Senate. KSMU’s Jennifer Moore reports.

Earlier this week, Blunt launched “Women for Blunt,” a new coalition that is headed by two high-profile women in Missouri politics: Catherine Hanaway, former US Attorney and first female Speaker of the Missouri House, and Renee Hulshof, who co-hosts a radio program in Columbia, and who is the wife of wife of former Congressman Kenny Hulshof.

Blunt is running against a woman, Democratic Secretary of State Robin Carnahan.

On Wednesday, he was at PenMac Workforce Development Center to bring the Women for Blunt coalition to the Ozarks.

“Women for Blunt is obviously going to be our biggest coalition, because it includes women who are in small businesses, women who are educators, women who are stay-at-home moms, and women in health care,” Blunt said.

Blunt said he intends to organize the Women for Blunt Coalition in all of Missouri’s 114 counties and the city of St. Louis.
