Civil War Dinner Presents Performance of Abraham Lincoln

The Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks will present a professional actor portraying President Abraham Lincoln at their annual dinner meeting November 9th. KSMU's Christy Hendricks reports.

The Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks will step back in time and relive a portion of President Abraham Lincoln's life on Wednesday, November 9th.

The group will host its annual dinner meeting at 6:00 at the Clarion Hotel on South Glenstone in Springfield and will watch a performance by a professional actor portraying Abraham Lincoln.

Jim Scaminaci is the President of the Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks.

He says the actor, Fritz Klein, has been portraying Lincoln since 1980.

The Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks has 93 members and is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.

Scaminaci says the group meets the second Wednesday of every month at the library center on South Campbell and provides a forum for people to discuss the Civil War.

He says the Civil War is an important part of history because it was the largest war fought on American soil and over 3-million people participated in it while over 600-thousand people died during the Civil War.
