Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson resigned. KSMU's Missy Shelton gets the report from KSMU's Christy Hendricks.
Shelton: The Lady Bears' coach, Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson has resigned from her position. KSMU's Christy Hendricks joins me now by phone from Hammons Student Center where at 4 o'clock University President Michael Nietzel and Director of Athletics Bill Rowe made the announcement. Christy, what can you tell us?
Hendricks: We learned that Coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson has resigned from her head coach position. The announcement was made by Missouri State President Michael Nietzel and Athletic Director Bill Rowe. She did not give a reason for why she resigned and Coach Abe is not at the conference. She's actually attending the women's Final Four in Cleveland. She did leave a statement.
Quote--"I am very grateful and blessed to have coached at Missouri State University. I am very proud of the six championships that we won and our three NCAA tournament appearances in those five years." That was from Coach Abe.
Shelton: Any indication of who will replace Coach Abe?
Hendricks: No. They said they will begin a search. They have named an interim coach, which will be the associate head coach, Janel Burgess.
