Missouri State University's Mens Basketball team met with new Coach Cuonzo Martin today.
KSMU's Erika Brame was there and files this report.
Coach Cuonzo Martin is now the official head coach for the Missouri Sate Mens Basketball team and he has already made big plans for next year.
He says the most important thing at this point is the players' grades.
Martin's goals are to remain competitive and maintain academics.
"Being very competitive on the basketball floor, you want to graduate guys that is always important, but you want to be competitive, you want to get better everyday."
There are several returning players for next season.
Shane Laurie, a guard for MSU says he is ready to work hard and get better for next season.
"We just want to compete every game. We want to come out and play as hard as we can and be the toughest team we can and walk off the floor knowing we played as hard as we could."
Many fans are hoping for a new era in Missouri State basketball and the new coach says he is ready to win.
"Just getting better. Changing the mind set. I mean it's a defensive mind set fist and competing hard. And wanting to win ball games every time down regardless of the person, you have to feel like you are a winner every time down."
Before coming to MSU, Martin was the assistant coach at Purdue.
