A commercial flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Springfield Wednesday evening.

“Wednesday evening at about 6:40 airport firefighters received word that an American Eagle jet was inbound to the airport with smoke in the cockpit.”
American Airlines Flight 4840 took off from Fayetteville, Arkansas en route to New York’s LaGuardia Airport. Firefighters were at the scene when the aircraft safely landed, but the source of the smoke has yet to be identified. The 22 passengers on board were not injured.
