The Community Foundation of the Ozarks announced today that 16 agencies will receive 175 thousand dollars in grants for arts and environmental initiatives in the community.

Randy Russell is Senior Program Officer for the Community Foundation.

He says part of these grants count toward the Grantmaker's Challenge for Children, a program that provides funds to address red flag issues impacting children.

The majority of the funds awarded in the arts category also count toward the Granktmaker's Challenge for children.

Also at today's press conference, the Community Foundation of the Ozarks announced a new initiative called Stewardship Ozarks.

Russell explains.

As for the arts, Russell says grants are going to a variety of programs designed to provide exposure to the arts to children who may not normally have access to the arts.

Russell says there are also some cultural programs receiving grants.

The grants that the Community Foundation of the Ozarks awarded today range from 762 dollars to 25 thousand dollars.
