Officials with the Missouri State University Athletics Department announced late Monday afternoon thet the contracts for Bears Head Football Coach Randy Ball and the 8 members of his coaching staff will not be renewed. Mike Smith has the story:
The current contracts of all 9 coaches run through January 31st 2006. Speaking to KSMU News, Athletics Director Bill Rowe says any decision involving a coaching change is among the most difficult tasks in athletics administration.
Rowe says in the current climate of college athletics, it's not unusual to include an entire staff when changing a head coach, and says any of the 8 assistants to Randy Ball are welcome to apply to work with his successor once that person is named. Rowe says the search for a new head football coaach begins immediately.
Randy Ball leaves Missouri State with a 7 year record of 34 wins and 42 losses. He came to Springfield in 1999 after 9 years as head coach at Western Illinois University.
For KSMU News, I'm Mike Smith.
