Springfield Contemporary Theater at the Vandivort, 305 E. Walnut 4th Floor, presents Martin McDonagh's comedy "The Cripple of Inishmaan" Sept.3-18. This comic Irish tale of small town life is filled with an array of eccentric and marvelous characters. As word arrives on Inishmaan, a remote island off the coast of Ireland, that a big Hollywood director is coming to the neighboring island of Inishmore to shoot a film, the town buzzes with gossip and excitement. Nobody is more excited than the young cripple Billy, who sees this as a chance to escape the tediousness of the island for a more thrilling life in America. Rick Dines directs the production, which will run Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2:00pm.
