Thursday is “Dump the Pump Day,” a day for Americans to leave their car keys at home and explore the benefits of public transportation. KSMU's Jennifer Moore reports on how local transportation officials are making that easier for Springfield residents to do.
Carol Cruise, director of the transit department at City Utilities, says CU is offering free bus rides all day Thursday, in an effort to help people save a little money and keep the atmosphere a little cleaner.
Cruise says if someone is interested in trying the public transit system for the first time, they can call CU’s transit department and get some help planning out their routes.
City Utilities’ transit helpline is 831-8782. The transit system serves people in the Springfield area.
Cruise said CU also has an interactive map that allows passengers to plan out which bus to take. You can reach that interactive route map by going to: www.cityutilities.net.
