A hurting economy and rising fuel prices have hit the Springfield airport and travelers are needing to make adjustments. KSMU's Nathan McVay has more.
People flying from Springfield to Cincinnati no longer have the option to fly directly. The Springfield/Branson National Airport learned Friday that Delta Airlines is cutting its three daily flights to Cincinnati.
Kent Boyd is spokesperson for the airport. He says that Delta is cutting its services to Cincinatti in twelve other cities as well.
Boyd says he doesn't believe that passenger demand and ticket sales prompted Delta's decision.
Boyd adds he's disappointed by Delta's decision to make these cuts but he was not surprised.
The cutting of flights nationwide is something that Boyd believes is a sign of what's to come.
Although Delta is to cutting the three Cincinatti flights from Springfield, it has tentatively added another daily flight from Springfield to Atlanta.
