Downtown murals by Springfield high school students

What do you get when you mix a visionary artist/entrepreneur, high school teachers who love art and teaching, and a team of creative students from five local high schools with the downtown council? A project celebrating the power of art to transform downtown Springfield. Photographer Randy Bacon and MSU Professor Michele Granger worked together with his staff and her students in the Fashion Program of Missouri State University as well as with high school art teachers and students from Kickapoo, Hillcrest, Parkview, Glendale and Central High School. It's a community beautification project that begins Saturday April 17. Ten 8-foot-by-8-foot murals painted by Springfield high school students will be hung on the west wall of the C&C Flooring Building downtown, to be unveiled at 600 W. College at the May 7th First Friday Art Walk. For more information call Randy Bacon Gallery at 868-8179.
