A Friday afternoon parade in Springfield will commemorate the recent success of three Drury University athletic teams.
On March 9 in Birmingham, Alabama, the school’s men’s swimming and diving team picked up their ninth straight title, while the women’s team claimed another championship. The men’s and women’s teams have won dual championships in four of the last five seasons. Overall, the men’s team has 11 titles, while the women have nine.
Earlier this month, the Drury men’s basketball team won the school’s first ever NCAA Division II Championship with its win over Metropolitan State University. View our coverage of the Panther's return home.
Friday’s parade begins at 4 p.m. at South and Elm, and then will travel north on South Avenue to Park Central Square. From there, the parade will travel north on Boonville Avenue, turn east on Central Street, and then turn north on Drury Lane. The parade will culminate in the Findlay Student Center Fountain Circle. Drury confirmed Tuesday that the Budweiser Clydesdales will join the parade.
According to the university, upon the conclusion of the parade, proclamations, autograph sessions with designer posters, and servings of Andy's Frozen Custard will follow.
