Drury Prepares for Panel Discussion

Drury University is preparing for the panel discussion "Democracy and Dissent" tomorrow morning at 9:30 that will include an appearance by Cindy Sheehan, an opponent of the Iraq War whose son died while serving in Iraq. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.

Drury University is preparing for the panel discussion "Democracy and Dissent" tomorrow morning at 9:30 that will include an appearance by Cindy Sheehan, an opponent of the Iraq War whose son died while serving in Iraq.

Sheehan's participation has drawn so much attention, Drury decided to hold the panel in Weiser Gym, a much larger venue than Clara Thompson Hall where most convocation events take place. Other panel participants include Rick Maxson, a Drury communication professor and Colonel Michael Meese, Professor and Head of the Department of Social Sciences at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Drury gave away tickets to the public today. As of 4:30, Drury had 400 tickets left to be given away by 6 this evening.

Regina Waters is associate professor of communication and the convocation series co-director.

The theme of this year's convocation series at Drury is Liberty and Security in a post-9/11 World. Drury is anticipating the presence of protestors and Waters says the school has made accommodations. Whether it's protestors or people attending the panel, Waters says the goal is to keep everyone safe.

If you miss the panel discussion in the morning, Waters says there are other convocation events later in the day.

Information about all of tomorrow's events at Drury is online at www.drury.edu
