Eureka Springs Mayor Dani Joy recently formed an organization to promote the arts in this eclectic getaway town, long recognized for its exceptional arts community. The 20-member Eureka Springs Arts Council’s mission is to "promote, encourage and empower a sustainable arts community through the maximum utilization of Eureka Springs' diverse creative community." The council has adopted as part of its Vision the goal of maintaining the city's position as a nationally recognized arts destination by becoming "the catalyst and connecting body that serves our creative economy – fostering synergy among private and non-profit organizations, artists, audiences, and community leaders." Among other initial projects, the Arts Council is organizing the Eureka Springs arts community to work more closely with Eureka Springs Special Events Coordinator, Eric Young, on the 2010 May Festival of the Arts.
