The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on water and power will hold an oversight field hearing at the West Plains Civic Center Theatre. The title? “Stopping Federal Land and Water Grabs: Protecting Property Rights from Washington D.C. Edicts.”
The hearing was requested by Republican Congressman Billy Long and Republican Congressman Jason Smith.
According to a news release from Long’s office, the hearing will focus on the implementation of the Blueways order on the White River in Missouri and Arkansas and future protection of private property rights.
The Obama Administration recently announced it was withdrawing the National Blueways designation for the White River Watershed in response to local opposition. But, according to the news release, the hearing will explore how rivers and watersheds could be impacted in the future.
People who want to submit written comments for the record are encouraged to do so.
The hearing starts today at 1 at the Civic Center.
