One of the two firms that had submitted proposals to develop the Heer's Tower in downtown Springfield has withdrawn from the process. KSMU's Missy Shelton reports.
Springfield city officials say they were surprised when they heard Wednesday Restoration St Louis would not proceed with negotiations.
Mary Lily Smith, economic development director for the city says it will make the process of re-developing Heer's move along more quickly because the city will now work with the remaining firm, McGowan/Walsh.
There were two separate plans from McGowan/Walsh for re-developing Heer's. Smith says it will now be up to the firm to decide which approach it will undertake.
Smith says the city will move as quickly as possible to facilitate the acquisition of the building.
