Former Senator Jack Danforth Will Speak at Drury

Next Tuesday, former Senator Jack Danforth will be in Springfield to speak on the Drury University campus. KSMU's Missy Shelton has a preview.

Jack Danforth is a native of St Louis who served in the US Senate for just under 19 years.

He was US Ambassador to the United Nations from 2004 to 2005. More recently, he wrote a book called "Faith and Politics" which critiques the relationship between the Republican Party and religious conservatives.

Jeff VanDenBerg is associate professor of political science and the pre-law advisor at Drury University. He says Danforth could cover any number of topics during his appearance on the Springfield campus.

VanDenBerg says students from a wide range of disciplines will enjoy Danforth's presentation.

The speech by former Senator Jack Danforth is not just for Drury University students. It's also open to the public but a ticket is required. The tickets are free and are available from the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association.
