Fraudulent Website Charges for Unemployment Insurance Processing

Missouri's Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is warning citizens of an unofficial website urging them to pay for a service which it provides for free. KSMU's Benjamin Fry has more.

To mimic an official website, a fraudulent site called moclaims.com is offering unemployment insurance processing to Missourians.

Unemployment insurance is available to those who are unemployed through no fault of their own and are actively seeking work.

Wanda Seeney is the Public Information Administrator with the Department, and says the website is misleading because it charges for a service Missourians can get for free.

"And as they follow the prompts and go through a series of pages, they eventually get to a page where it charges them $19.95"

The state provides free processing for unemployment insurance claims.

The legitimate website is moclaim.com.

That's "moclaim" without an "s".
