Old, new, big and small...books of all kinds will be sold by the Friends of the Library 2006 Spring Book Sale in Springfield. KSMU's Christy Hendricks has the story.
Old ones, new ones, red ones, blue ones....books of all kinds will be sold at the Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale starting this weekend at the North Town Mall in Springfield.
Marcia Kellotat is a Friends of the Library board member.
She says the money from the book sale goes to the Library Foundation for projects like enhancing building appearance and children's programs.
Kellotat says nearly 80-thousand dollars were raised from the sale of about 98-thousand books last year.
She says she hopes the sale this year will raise about 80-thousand dollars from about 80-thousand books.
Marcia Kellotat says all the books have been donated and that prices will range from as low as 50-cents for paperback books to as high at three-dollars for autographed books in good condition.
She says reading is absolutely essential to a child's growth.
The Missouri State Lady Bears women's basketball team will be at the book sale from 10:30 to 11:45 the morning of Saturday April 22nd to sign autographs.
The Friends of the Library 2006 Spring Book Sale will begin Saturday, April 22nd and last through Sunday, April 30th.
The book sale will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. every day except Sundays which will be open from 1:00 to 4:30 in the afternoon.
It will be at the North Town Mall on East Kearney Street.
