Governor Matt Blunt Visits Bissett Elementary School

Governor Matt Blunt shared a lesson today with local elementary students. KSMU's Jana Greer reports.

Governor Matt Blunt spoke to students at Bissett Elementary School in Springfield. The governor taught students about being trustworthy, which is the school's character word of the month.

Governor Blunt told the students it was important for everyone to be trustworthy including himself.

Blunt came to Bissett Elementary School because of one of their fourth grade teachers Odel Odel. She says she invited the governor to teach the students about trust but to also show students that government officials are people too.

The word of the month program is one way schools in Missouri are working to include character education as part of the school day.
