The first three pictures are coming over the Beartooth pass Northeast of Yellowstone. The Beartooth highway is considered to be one of the most beautiful in America. Grand Prismatic pool in the Midway Geyser Basin is one of the classics of Yellowstone. The wildlife of Yellowstone's Lamar Valley makes this a sort of "American Serengeti", seen in the next two pictures. The next three pictures are of the Yellowstone River from three different spots. The first is looking down from the Southeastern flank of Mt Washburn at the canyon (where the pine forest is broken by cliffs in the foreground). The second one is from down in the same canyon, just below the Lower Falls looking down the canyon from the Easter rim. The first only a few miles upstream from this. It looks like any other (beautiful) high country stream, with no hint of the canyon and two large waterfalls just downstream. Finally (the last two pictures), we stopped in the Tetons coming and going. One of these looks out from near the Jackson Lake Lodge across the Moose meadows to Jackson Lake in the late evening (sunset was at about 8:30, even with the mountains on the Western horizon this time of year). In the other picture you can see the summits of South Teton (left) and Teewinot (right), but the summit of the Grand Teton is still coyly hiding behind a cloud (sort of like an elephant hiding behind a small shrubbery?).
Just to brag a little, I climbed the Grand Teton with my Dad (who went on to be a summer ranger in Yellowstone) when I was 12.
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed these!Best,Bob
