Greene County has finalized a contract with the University of Missouri to provide medical examiner services to the county. KSMU’s Alvin Chen reports.
Dave Coonrod is the Presiding Commissioner for Greene County. He says Greene County started to search for a full-time medical examiner two years ago. But the county found that the Medical Examiner Department in the University of Missouri would be the best choice.
Coonrod says under the contract, Dr. Carl Stacy from the Missouri University's Department of Pathology and Anatomical Sciences will be the leading medical examiner for Greene County.
Hesays Dr. Stacy and other experts from the entire department will work together to provide a variety of services.
Coonrod also says Greene County is planning on constructing a new morgue facility in downtown Springfield in 2010.
