Greene County Recieves Mobile Command Vehicle

Greene County has been awarded a mobile command vehicle through a grant process organized by the Missouri Department of Public Safety. KSMU's Alvin Chen reports.

A mobile command vehicle has a telescopic radio tower and work areas for law enforcement emergency responders and public health workers to all use the vehicle in an emergency situation.

Terri Durdaller is the communication director for the Missouri Department of Public Safety.

The Law Enforcement Equipment Program usually provides local agencies with equipment on a loan basis. Durdaller says in this case, however, the vehicle was given to the Greene County Sheriff's Office at no cost.

The Greene County Sheriff's Office will maintain and store the vehicle. One condition of the grant is that the Sheriff's Office agrees to respond to state emergency assignments.

For KSMU News, I'm Alvin Chen.
