Evangel University will be able to create an endowed chair in its business department after a Michigan couple decided to donate half a million dollars to the school. KSMU’s Rebekah Clark has more.
According to a press release from Evangel, Dr. Raymond and Barbara Schmidgall of Lansing, Michigan, felt they and their four daughters had benefited greatly from Evangel, and wanted to honor the school. Schmidgall, a professor of hospitality financial management at Michigan State University, has written several books related to hospitality, and is recognized nationally as an industry expert. He serves on the Evangel Board of Directors.
The funding investment process will be granted over five years. After the entire donation is collected, the funds will be used to recognize a leader and professor in the department. The endowment will provide that chair holder the money to support activities and programs that enhance leadership, teaching, faculty development and scholarly pursuit.
For KSMU News, I’m Rebekah Clark.
