With Halloween approaching, this time of year is one of the busiest for the Missouri Fire Department. State Fire Marshall, Randy Cole describes what types of things are in our homes this time of year that are highly flammable.

It's important to make sure that children who are dressing up for Halloween have costumes that are flame-retardant. Costumes that are store bought will say if they have a flame retardant on them. Fire Marshall Randy Cole explains why putting a flame-retardant on a home-made costume is important.

Candles in Jack-O- Lanterns are okay to use as long as caution is taken. Make sure to never leave a Jack-O-Lantern with a candle inside unattended. When lighting candles inside a pumpkin make sure to use long match. Also, keep the lit pumpkin away from anything that can catch on fire.
