The Harlin Museum in West Plains presents a new juried art show, "Vanishing Ozarks-Old Schoolhouses and Country Stores," June 17 to July 1. Participating artists sought out examples of country stores and schoolhouses in their area of the Ozarks and gave them artistic interpretation. Most of them have also collected stories about the schools and stores depicted in their paintings, in keeping with the Harlin Museum's mission to tell the story of the Ozarks through art and history. In addition to the artwork, the opening reception will include a storytelling re-enactment of an old schoolhouse, featuring original materials used by the teachers and students. The reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.harlinmuseum.org or call (417) 256-7801.
