"Hedda Gabler" opens Drury Theatre season

Scandinavian playwrights are "in" this semester at Springfield's university theater departments--first MSU Theatre and Dance present Strindberg's "Miss Julie," and now Drury University Theatre opens its season with Henryk Ibsen's 1891 masterpiece Hedda Gabler. As relevant and riveting today as when it shocked the world nearly 120 years ago, Hedda is a remarkably modern and complex heroine whose fear of scandal traps her in a suffocating marriage. Performances will take place in the Studio Theatre in Springfield Hall on the Drury University campus Wednesday through Friday Oct. 7-9 at 8pm, and Saturday Oct.10 at 2 and 8pm. For tickets call 873-7255 Mon-Fri 1 to 5pm.
