Holiday Travel Tips from Missouri Highway Patrol

The Holidays are here and if you are not traveling it is likely that others are traveling to you. With thousands on the roadway today KSMU's Jana Greer has some traveling safety tips from the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Roads will be busy today as holiday travelers make their way to see friends and family. Sergeant Dan Bracker is the spokesperson for the Missouri Highway Patrol. He says to keep up with the additional traffic; there will be extra officers on patrol.

To have a safe trip, Bracker says to drive with caution.

Last year there were 15 people who died in car wrecks in Missouri over Thanksgiving. Bracker says that's 15 too many.

If you get into an accident or your vehicle breaks down you can call star-55 to reach the highway patrol or call 911. It's helpful to know where you are and to include nearby roads or landmarks when you call.
