It’s been nearly five weeks since the deadly EF5 tornado tore through Joplin, Missouri. Next week at 7:30am and 4:30pm, KSMU’s Sense of Community series will explore the relief efforts and how the community is moving forward. In preparation for the series, we offer this sound portrait, which includes the voices of residents, volunteers, Red Cross staffers, and Joplin Humane Society workers. The music you hear at the end of this feature is the Joplin High School choir rehearsing before a recent benefit concert.
KSMU producers Jennifer Moore, Michele Skalicky, Mike Smith, Randy Stewart, and Missy Shelton contributed audio to this sound portrait.
