Jordan Valley Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center that has been experiencing growth every year since it opened in 2002. FQHC's are not-for-profit organizations that offer health care to many people who can't get non-emergency care anywhere else. KSMU's Joe Morgan has more about Jordan Valley as well as what changes the state's new Medicaid program MoHealthNet will bring.
Jordan Valley Health Center receives federal aid to offer health care and health care programs to many people who can't get care elsewhere. Jordan Valley, like all FQHC's is governed by a Board of Directors. Executive Director of Jordan Valley Health Center Brooks Miller explains why a Board is needed.
Miller says that Jordan Valley has experienced steady growth since it opened. Last year, it served over 45 thousand patients.
Miler says that with MoHealthNet going into effect, he feels that puts Jordan Valley Health Center in an even better position to serve the community. The re-vamped Medicaid system gives incentives to recipients who seek preventative care. It also identifies health centers where recipients can go for care. That's where Jordan Valley comes in...
Miller says that he thinks Jordan Valley will continue to grow with the new Medicaid system because the center is in a good situation to utilize the new programs.
Miller says that FQHC's are a vital part of any health system and he believes in its mission. He also says that Jordan Valley Health Center has plans to expand in the future to meet the growing need for health care. For KSMU News, I'm Joe Morgan.
