Springfield Contemporary Theatre at the Vandivort, 305 E. Walnut 4th floor, presents a lighthearted, charming musical by Ned Wilkinson, even if the title doesn't sound like it: "Julie Bunny Must Die!" It's the story of cartoonist Adam Chase and his creation "Julie Bunny: International Spy," who together battle villains not only in Adam’s cartoon world, but also in his real life. While Julie fights her nemesis Chef Albertson, it is up to Adam to keep his boss, clingy girlfriend and an obsessed fan in balance. As Adam’s worlds collide, he has to figure out how to stay in control and not to be defeated by the baddies. The SCT production follows Julie Bunny’s hit premiere at the 2010 Orlando International Fringe Festival. Performances are scheduled at the Vandivort Friday and Saturday Jan. 7 and 8, and Thurs-Sat Jan.13-15 all at 7:30pm, with 2:00pm Sunday matinees January 9 and 16.
