If you know of a young person who's planning on working this summer, the state of Missouri is hiring. KSMU's Jennifer Moore has details.
Missouri Governor Jay Nixon is reminding young people that they only have two weeks left to apply for a summer job with the State Parks Youth Corps.
That’s a program that will employ about 1,000 Missourians between the ages of 17 and 24 for paid summer jobs in Missouri’s 85 state parks and historic sites.
On Tuesday, the governor visited the Gibson Technical Center in Reed Springs to talk about the plan. He said the jobs will pay $7.25 an hour and workers can put in up to 240 hours this summer with a range of duties, including helping with landscaping, leading tours and nature programs, repairing trails and helping park staff with office duties.
The deadline to apply is April 16. Candidates can apply by going to the website: www.mo.gov. Funding for the program is coming from federal stimulus dollars.
