In commemoration of Veteran's Day, Big Momma's Coffee and Espresso Bar, 217 E. Commercial Street in Springfield, will host an exhibit of post-Vietnam war photographs by local Vietnam vet, prize-winning author/playwright/photographer/documentary filmmaker, and Vietnam historian Larry Rottmann. Since serving with the 25th Infantry divisionin 1967 and '68, Rottmann has travelled back to Vietnam some 20 times. The exhibit features a dozen large-scale and candid black-and-white photos of common Vietnamese people, all taken since 1982. Rottmann has revisited the country so often in order to meet the people there, touch them, and as he says, be "reassured that we hadn't killed or poisoned them all, or destroyed their individuality or their collective spirit." The exhibit is free and open to the public throughout November. For more information call Big Momma's at 865-9911.
