The League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri will encourage women to become more engaged in public service during a luncheon tomorrow (Friday). The event is called “From Your House to the White House: Women Changing Government.” Ann Elwell is one of the event organizers.
The featured speakers at the event include Republicans, Democrats and non-partisans. Organizers hope to demonstrate how women can get involved in public life, whether it’s serving on a board, working on a campaign or running for office.Elwell says women still need to make strides in being involved in government.
Organizers expect more than 80 women to participate in the luncheon. KSMU’s Missy Shelton will moderate the event.
