Springfield Contemporary Theatre at the Vandivort, 305 E. Walnut 4th floor, presents Ken Ludwig's Marx Brothers-esque comedy "Lend Me A Tenor" Feb.18 through March 5th, directed by Rick Dines. It’s September 1934, and Cleveland’s premiere opera producer is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. The tickets are sold, the stage is set, the orchestra is ready, but he’s lost his tenor. It’s only a matter of hours before the curtain is to rise on the gala benefit performance of Verdi's "Otello" and world famous tenor Tito Merelli wasn't at the train station as planned. Tito’s hotel suite becomes busier than a train station as the uptight impresario, his sneaky daughter, a nebbish assistant, the overbearing chairwoman of the opera guild, the lustful leading lady, the temperamental wife and the star-struck hotel bellboy are all in and out as the star is found, lost again and found once more. Performances at the Vandivort are Friday and Saturday Feb.18 and 19, and Thursday thru Saturday Feb.24-26 and March 3-5 all at 7:30pm, with 2:00pm Sunday matinees on Feb.20 and 27. The cast includes David DePriest, Leigh Anne DePriest, Ali and Todd Smith, Heather Ludwig, Whitney Ice, Patrick Schuster, and David Schmittou, who appears courtesy of Actor's Equity under a "Special Appearance" contract.
