Local Blood Drives Cancelled, Postponed Due to Weather; Donor Centers Remain Open, Request Blood

Cancellation of numerous blood drives means a shorter supply of blood than expected; more drives are planned for coming days

The hazardous winter weather is impacting some local blood drives. According to the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, the following blood drives have been postponed or cancelled for Thursday:

- Logan-Rogersville High School, Rogersville, Mo.

- Jarrett Middle School, Springfield, Mo.

- Central Bible College, Springfield, Mo.

- Ozark Community Hospital, Gravette, Ark.

- Career Academy of Hair Design, Rogers, Ark.

- Cornerstone Bank, Berryville, Ark.

- Washington Regional Medical Center, Fayetteville, Ark.

- Mercy McCune Brooks Hospital, Carthage, Mo.

- Division of Employment Security, Springfield, Mo.

- The Gardens, Springfield, Mo.

- AMVETS # 78, Rockaway Beach, Mo.

 

In a release, the CBCO said the deteriorating weather conditions mean that more blood drives may be cancelled or postponed. It is best to check ahead of time before you make the trip to donate.

 

These cancellations mean local blood banks will be shorter on supply than they had planned. CBCO Donor Centers will be open Thursday. Donation hours are as follows:

 

Springfield

The CBCO says it currently has at least a three-day supply for most blood types, which is adequate. CBCO will be holding drives at the following locations this week:

Donations are also accepted at the Campbell Donor Center, 220 W.Plainview Rd. or the Glenstone Donor Center, 2230 S. Glenstone Ave. Operating hours are: Monday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.(at Campbell Donor Center only).

To be eligible to give, you must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present required ID.
