Message from America for Web


A free service offered by a retail store is designed to allow the public to show support toactive duty military personnel around the world. Michele Skalicky reports.

Looking for a way to show support to military personnel around the world this holiday season? Circuit city is sponsoring a message from America campaign designed to allow the public to do just that. Through New Year 's Eve, the public can visit any circuit city and tape a message for free that will go to active duty service men and women stationed around the world. It's easy to do'when you go to circuit city let a sales associate know you want to record a message from America'

The videotapes will be sent to an edit facility near New York'from there, some will be sent to CBS, which will broadcast several of the messages on national TV. Most will go to the American forces radio and television service and will be seen by service personnel thru A.F.N. facilities. Jim Babb says they'll also be shared with those who run the U.S.O. facilities around the world'

This is the 2nd year for the message from America program. Last year, more than 100,000 people participated in the campaign, recording greetings as individuals and groups.
