This weekend's weather may bring substantial freezing rain and sleet to much of Southwest Missouri. KSMU's Jennifer Moore spoke with Steve Lindbergh, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield, for a preview of the weekend's weather.
Lindbergh said another system with a pattern similar to the January ice storm is going to set up over the weekend. There are several low pressure systems moving northeast along a front heading towards the Ozarks. Each system has the potential to bring significant precipitation to the area.
Right now, the pattern is quite similar to the setup which hit the Ozarks last January, Lindbergh said. As of now there is the potential for ¾ of an inch to 1 inch of ice. He said the system and its precipitation is expected to reach Springfield Sunday afternoon or evening.
