Missouri Delegates Collect Pins and Other Convention Memorabilia

Monday was the first day of the Democratic National Convention in Boston. KSMU's Katie Hummel spoke with some of the Missouri delegates who are having fun collecting pins and other accessories they can wear to the convention each night.

AS DELEGATES AND PARTY OFFICIALS FILE INTO THE ROOM FOR THEIR MORNING MEETING - A COLORFUL ARRAY OF PARTY PATRIOTISM IS ON DISPLAY.

FROM KENNEDY TO KERRY, FROM BUTTONS TO HATS, MISSOURI DELEGATES ARE SPORTING THEIR DEMOCRATIC SPIRIT PROUDLY.

ONE MISSOURI DELEGATE STANDS NEXT TO THE DOOR OF THE CONFERENCE ROOM WEARING A SHIRT COVERED WITH A MAP OF MISSOURI.

THE ENTIRE TOP PART OF HIS SHIRT IS ALSO COVERED WITH BUTTONS.

REGGIE BAUMGARNER IS A MEMBER OF THE LABORERS UNION IN SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI.

BAUMGARNER SAYS HE'S LOOKING FOR LOT'S OF LOOT FOR THE GUYS BACK HOME.

AND REGGIE ISN'T THE ONLY THE ONLY TRYING TO GET NOTICED.

JUANITA CLARKE IS A MISSOURI DELEGATE WHO DESIGNED HER OWN HAT.

CLARKE SAYS SHE JUST FELT LIKE SHOWING OFF HER PATRIOTISM.

BUT WHERE DO ALL OF THESE BUTTONS COME FROM???

BUTTON BOB, OF COURSE.

BOB LEVINE HAS BEEN SELLING BUTTONS AT THE DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTON FOR QUITE SOME TIME.

HE'S EVEN PERFECTED HIS SALES PITCH TO MATCH EVERY CONVENTION.

BUT WHY DOES BOB DO IT?

WHETHER THEY GET A BUTTON FROM BOB OR THEY MAKE THEIR OWN HAT - MISSOURI DELEGATES SAY.THEY WANT SOMETHING TO WEAR WITH FLARE."
