As hurricane relief efforts continue in Louisiana, the Missouri National Guard remains an active humanitarian force there. KSMU's Alvin Chen reports.
Captain Tamara Spicer is the State Public Affairs Officer for the Missouri National Guard. She says right now there are about 1,200 Citizen-Soldiers all across Louisiana helping maintain order, and supporting operations in the affected area.
Spicer says the return date for those Citizen-Soldiers has not yet been set.
The Missouri National Guard was dispatched more quickly for Hurricane Gustav than it was for Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
For KSMU News, I'm Alvin Chen.
