The party begins with a reception at 6 p.m. at the University Plaza Hotel Atrium, featuring music by the Missouri State band, and progresses into an elegant evening with a dinner, program, entertainment by students from the College of Arts and Letters, and dancing and music by M-Dock.
In addition to this being the university's first year with its new moniker, it's also The Founders Club's silver anniversary. And there's no better way to celebrate 25 years of generous giving than to announce a record-breaking gift total. As of today, the Missouri State University Foundation has received $10.75 million in gifts for the fiscal year ... surpassing by a considerable margin 2004's record total of $9.2 million. John Q. Hammons' $25 million gift commitment for the JQH Arena is not reflected in this total.
"All of us at Missouri State are extremely grateful for the support that we receive from our alumni and friends," said Greg Onstot, vice president of university advancement. "Giving has grown over the years and new records continue to be set as individuals and firms understand and learn that private giving is a necessity if we are to grow and prosper as an institution."
As part of the celebration, the Foundation will recognize 37 new medallion recipients for their support of the university. Medallions are presented to those who have given $25,000 or more, up to and exceeding gifts of $1 million.
Currently, there are more than 700 members of The Founders Club. Members of this exclusive club have made a minimum commitment of $10,000 in cash, securities, or real or personal property to the Missouri State University Foundation.
Each year, donors provide private gift contributions, from a variety of sources for many purposes, in support of Missouri State University's departments and programs ... funding scholarships, facilities, faculty development and research. These donors ... which consist of alumni, parents, faculty and staff, students and other friends ... visibly demonstrate the desire to help improve the quality of education at Missouri State.
Since its establishment in 1981, the Missouri State University Foundation has received more than $118 million in private gift and pledge commitments for the benefit of the university.
