Women who don the uniforms of the United States Armed Forces will be honored during Veterans Day events Nov.10-11 on the Missouri State University campus. Several events are scheduled throughout the two-day tribute themed "Missouri State Remembers Women in Uniform". Mike Smith has the story.

�Missouri State University�s Veterans Day events are the finest on any campus,� says Myril Stewart, Veterans Recognition Committee chair. �While we are honoring all of America�s veterans, this year we want to highlight women veterans.�
Below is a listing of Veterans Day events.
Nov. 10
The Veterans Day Public Affairs Convocation is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Plaster Student Union Theater. Mary Reynolds Powell, former United States Army Nursing Corps Vietnam veteran, and author of �World of Hurt: Between Innocence and Arrogance in Vietnam,� will speak on �The Challenges and Achievements of Women in Uniform.� Admission is free and open to the public.
In this KSMU feature, Mike Smith talks with Missouri State University Nursing Instructor and former Army Nurse Elizebeth Fahey about serving with Mary Powell while in South Vietnam at the 24th evacuation Hospital.
Nov. 11
A Veterans Recognition Breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m. in Plaster Student Union Ballroom. Tickets are free to veterans and their guests and may be picked up at the Transit Operations Center at 700 E. Elm.
Raising of the Colors and Dedication of the Missouri State Veterans Memorial will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the north entrance of Plaster Stadium. Participating in the event will be campus and government officials, including Senator Jim Talent, who will provide a short address, color guard, flag escort and campus-wide taps in remembrance of the fallen. The event is free and open to the public.
A Moment of Silence in recognition of veteran�s service will be observed at 11 a.m.
A Re-creation of a USO show will be held at 11:15 a.m. in Plaster Student Union food court. The show will feature Missouri State alumni, current students and faculty members as performers. The show is free and open to the public.
A Brown Bag Luncheon and Discussion Panel will be held at 12:30 p.m. in Plaster Student Union Traywick Parliamentary Room. The panel will be comprised of area women veterans who will discuss women�s service and take questions from audience participants. Paula Wilhelm, Missouri State employee veteran, will serve as moderator. Panelists for the discussion will be community veterans Tina Barton, Mary Powell, Billie Stewart, Angela Williams; Shauna MacDonald, Missouri State employee veteran; and Michelle Dillow, Missouri State student. Dillow is currently serving in Iraq and is scheduled to return from duty in November. The luncheon and discussion panel are free and open to public.
