Missouri State University has ended its search for a new Athletic Director. KSMU’s Matt Evans reports on Thursday’s press conference.
After reviewing over 100 applicants, Missouri State has chosen a new Athletic Director. Kyle Moats is currently the Associate Athletics Director for National Marketing at the University of Louisville. Moats will take over for Bill Rowe who has been with Missouri State for over 50 years. Moats will be Missouri State’s 10th Athletic Director.
"I'm extremely excited, humbled, and proud to be your next Director of Athletics," said Moats.Prior to his job at Louisville, Moats was the Senior Associate Athletic Director at Marquette University. He also worked in the University of Kentucky athletics department for 14 years. Missouri State University President Michal Nietzel had nothing but great things to say about Moats during the conference."There is a mature extroversion about him in terms of the way he carries himself with people he knows and people he has just met," said Nietzel.Nietzel said he was impressed by Moats and he rose to the top of a superior group of finalists. Doug Elgin, the Commissioner of the Missouri Valley Conference also spoke at the press conference."I really do consider this one of the very best jobs in the Missouri Valley Conference. In my opinion, it's one of the best jobs in the NCAA's football championship sub-division," said Elgin.
The University Board of Governors is slated to approve Moats for the position at its next meeting. Moats will begin his tenure as the Athletic Director of Missouri State University July 1st. For KSMU News, I’m Matt Evans.
