More Springfield Runners to Run in Boston Marathon

Two more Springfieldians will run the Boston Marathon on Monday. KSMU's Christy Hendricks reports. (Missy Shelton contributed to this report.)

It's a runner's dream, to be in the Boston Marathon.

Two men from Springfield will lace up their shoes Monday morning to run the 26 miles of the Boston Marathon.

This will be the first time Brian Todd will run the race.

He says it's something he's worked hard to achieve.

Todd says he hopes bad weather won't get in the way of his goal to run the race under three hours.

With a forecast of 80-percent chance of rain and a high of 40-degrees, runners may have to sport a raincoat with their running shoes.

Andy Leer will run the marathon for a second time on Monday.

He first ran it in 1994 and says he wants to set an example for his young son.

Leer says the Boston Marathon is a tough run because of a number of hills through the course.

But, he says fans make the run worthwhile.

Both men say they run several miles each week to train for race.

They say they're excited to participate in the marathon even if the weather turns out bad.
